What size do you wear?

A woman would never answer that. That's like asking how much you weigh. But in baby terms it's okay. Here is Max at 2 months old wearing overalls sized for a 9month old. They were a tad too big, but comfy for him.
I took another video of him and I still can't get it to upload. I'll work on it more another time. I have posted a video before so maybe I'm forgetting a step now. I'll figure it out soon enough.
We picked up Erik from work today so Max got to meet his Daddy's coworkers. There were only a few people that I remember from working there but it was so fun to show of my little man. Everyone was so thrilled to see him. He was excited too and smiled and everyone. Almost. We pushed his limit and he had a small meltdown. Nothing a car ride can't resolve.
The new ER looks great by the way. It was strange to be there with things so different but things appeared to be running smoothly. Even though there is still a lot to do. Right now Erik is fast asleep. He just finished almost 24 hours there. That's a long time to be on your feet with no sleep. He made it through dinner, only a few head tosses. He goes back bright and early tomorrow morning.
He's been at work the last three nights. Max and I get to cuddle with him tonight...I better go!!!

New Baby Mills

My little brother, John, and his wife, Carla, welcomed their second daughter this morning!!! Payten (2) is now the big sister. She wasn't too thrilled with the idea of having another person in her life, note the bottom picture. Here are the baby's stats:

Feb 4th, 2008
4:46 am
7lbs 1oz
19 1/2 inches

Oh..you think I forgot to post her name? Wrong. She doesn't have one yet. Carla was due on Valentine's Day (also my Mom's birthday and Carla's Dad's birthday) so they were still deciding between a few adorable names. I'll post it when I learn it.

Whenever there is a birth in the family, I send an email to a group of my girlfriends announcing it. Today it turned into a joke because I seemto be sending one out every few months. (This baby is grandkid #11 for my parents). They asked if they should be expecting another one soon. YES! My sister in law, Parousha, is expecting a baby in August (I hope it's August, if it's wrong I'll correct it). This is the first for her and Sean..it's so exciting!!!

Where is Thumbkin? Where is Thumbkin?

Max and I went for a nice walk today. We live in really cool neighborhood with lots of Victorian homes that are fun to see. We wanted Erik to go but the hospital is moving the ER, which means Erik has the opportunity to pick up a lot of extra hours. (Thank you for working so hard daddy! We love you!) So with daddy at work, we took off.
This was the first time I had walked this particular route since being pregnant. It sure went by a lot faster! Max passed out quickly in his stroller. I wanted to take a picture of him sleeping because it was so cute. But, he started screaming the minute I unlocked the front door. And smiling the moment I picked him up. I grabbed the camera and did the best I could.
You will notice in many of Max's photos he has his thumb tucked between his pointer (is it really called a pointer finger?) and middle finger. Maybe he learned the old "I stole your nose" game in the womb.
We have a great video of Max that we are trying to upload but Google isn't working with us. Keep looking, it will be here soon!

Curly-Q

Erik, Max, Obi and I took a nice walk this afternoon to downtown Vacaville. It's just a few blocks away and has a great park called Andrew's Park. There is a huge grass area where Erik can throw the ball to Obi. Although, this time the ball didn't make it home. It will be nice for another dog to find when the mud dries up. We walked through Main Street, got some coffee and came home to get ready for Max's bath. Here is a picture of Max telling Erik all about his day.I'm not hiding my face below. I'm trying to memorize children's songs. I think Max is getting tired of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I bought a Raffi CD the other day. It reminded me of my first job at a toy store/teaching supply store. (Yes, I'll advertise for them. They are a small store in Napa that has survived all the large, chain stores. It's an awesome store with great owners). We'd play children's music all day and after a while, you just learn to like it. That was 15 years ago (wow, time flies!) and I still enjoy it. I love Raffi. Erik does not. Max will. I win.
Max's first bath! Just kidding. He's had plenty in his 7 weeks on the earth. But, this is the first one we've captured on film. Bad, huh? He really likes his bath's as long as he's warm.
Max and his adorable Mohawk! Look how curly it is!!
This is Max's hair before it dries up and goes straight. He has the best curls I've ever seen. Perfect little round ringlet curls. Click on the image to get the full picture. I hope it grows out curly. How cute would that be?

The worst commercial ever!

If you have a minute, watch the commercial above, watch it through the end. It's the most annoying commercial ever. The one above is a little different than the one we see on TV. Erik and I always make fun of the guy that's on it. He's so sassy. I hope his stupid voice gets stuck in your head and makes you suffer like us.

I wonder if he had to take dance lessons to get the part. Maybe his commercial wife gave him lessons. She's got moves. Serious ants in her pants. Check out the realtor at the end too.

Yes, it's almost 3am. I can't sleep.

Yes, I'm cracking up right now.

Repeat Offender

Just a few days ago, a good friend of mine was able to see Live with Regis and Kelly in New York (she lives in New Jersey). She posted about it on her blog and I studied the post because I am so jealous! I'm not a huge fan of the talk show but I am a huge fan of the actress Katherine Heigl, who was their guest. And, I'm way jealous of her experience.

So, I pretty much memorized everything from her post, including the dress KH wore. Today, as I'm channel surfing to pass the time (Max's new thing is he won't nap longer then 15 minutes unless he's actually resting his head near my chest) I find The Martha Stewart show. They are also is having KH on the show. And guess what ? SHE WAS WEARING THE SAME DRESS! Now, I repeat clothing all the time, sometimes the next day...and even the day after if it remains clean and I am with different company. But, are the rich and famous supposed to be doing this? I thought they had stylists to be aware of these errors.

It was also clear to me that she did Regis and Kelly before she did the Martha Stewart show. Because she also had the same hairdo...and it was a little flatter and sloppier then the earlier morning show.

Now, I've just realized that I did an entire post about KH's wardrobe, details most people would pay no attention to. That's sad. And I let Max cry while I did so.

Understanding Chick Flicks

I was reminded tonight that chick flicks are so much better to see with chicks! Erik is a good sport when it comes to seeing chick flicks with me. But, tonight I was able to see 27 dresses and it was so good! I was with 5 other girls: my sister, two of her friends, and their sisters too. But, I felt like the entire movie theater was filled with my closest friends.

All the women commented at the same things and laughed at the same parts. We all "ooooh'd" at the same boys and "aaawww'd" when they did something cute. I didn't even have to sit by a stranger (I'm weird like that at the movies). This was also the first time I've been to the movies since having Max. It was so nice to be able to sit through a 2 hour movie without hitting up the bathroom! So cool!

I just love chick flicks. A nice peek into a dream world. Everything is perfect... cute and sweet and skinny. A boy would never understand.

Cry me a River

We are on hour two, pushing hour three of Max's crying spell. Our pattern went a little something like this: Rock, sing, feed, diaper change, sing, rock, bounce, diaper change, feed...pause...silence...mom and dad give a quiet high five in the air...too loud...rock, feed, diaper change, sing, bounce...

I gave up and passed him to Erik. Now I'm blogging. Nice, huh? I wonder what they did a hundred years ago without the internet during a time like this. I guess my little crisis is nothing compared to what they had to deal with 100 years ago. I still feel lucky, even with a little less hearing...

...it's quiet in there now...shhhh...

Is this the thanks we get?

Some call it vulgar, I call it a photo op! I could take a thousand pictures of him flipping me off. I think he got practice in the womb. It's my appreciation for feeding him. I didn't really want to put a photo of me nursing on here but it gives you and idea of how picky this little man is. Don't study it too hard but, it takes both of my hands to assist in the nursing process because 1) He's a heavy guy and the pillows don't give that extra support needed and 2) My fingers need to be placed in the exact same place EVERY time he nurses. That's not a joke. I have to be in the same spot on the couch, the same pillow below him and both hands "doing their job". It is getting better but he is also very picky about the times he nurses. Whatever works. Thank goodness for breast pumps, bottles and formula. Okay, enough about this. I'm probably grossing out my brothers.
Daddy gets to help feed too (again, that goodness for the above). I just thought this was cute. Max likes to stare at his Daddy and study his face. I think Max has a secret spell he puts on people by locking eyes with you. Watch out! Erik is not wearing a beanie here but they both look so cute in them. I love my boys!

How big is Max? SOOOOOO Big! (pretend you don't see red eyes)
I finally got a picture of him smiling. He smiles ALL the time in his sleep and it is the cutest thing. I get the camera all set up to take a photo, and he stops. I was hoping to get one of the best ones, it's a huge smile with his mouth open. I'll keep trying. We've noticed him with a little baby laugh to accompany the smile at times, while sleeping. So cute!

Be careful, he's casting a spell right now! I realize this picture is mean, But, if you click on it, you can enlarge it and it looks like Max has teeth! You will also notice his hairy face, whitehead covered nose and tough brow. After he finishes puberty, he'll be a hunk! Watch out ladies!
So Max had his 1 month check-up. He's almost back to his birth weight. He's at 12 lbs 1oz now. So we've done pretty well at having him put on some weight. His pediatrician was happy and said Max looked wonderful. He was impressed at how alert he is.
He's learned how to arch his back during a crying spell...that's super fun! He loves his mobiles and tries to grab for hanging toys. He smiles at people on occasion and in the right mood. He is such a fun baby, usually only waking up once during the night to eat. YAY! Erik has two more weeks off work then it's all me. Scary.
