Just a little of what is going on with us lately.
The boys have been busy with Christmas crafts, coloring, decorating, tearing apart the tree, enjoying lights, singing Christmas songs, watching Christmas movies, etc. We are really enjoying the holiday this year. The boys are "getting " it which makes it SO FUN!
We made Advent calendar's this year. I cut everything out, they glued it all together and each day they glue on a cotton ball to make Santa's beard really long. They are having fun with it. I'll take a photo of the finished product in a couple weeks.
Getting outside for walks is getting a little harder for me these days so when I have the energy I try to get out with them. We walked to the elementary school down the street and the boys had fun with their scooters.
Max had his first dentist visit. He did great!
We discovered a new park in town and the boys had a blast. This particular slide is a little steep, it was an immediate favorite.
We made some cookies yesterday. My original plan was for the boys to decorate them to hand out. The actual plan? We ate all of them. Oinkers.
We had some of Erik's family up over the weekend to celebrate Christmas/Santa Lucia. His sister, Nicole, and family stayed the night Saturday night and the kids had so much fun playing together. When I woke up I found a full breakfast made and these four ready to eat! Alex, Vivian, Max and Ethan. Erik's Mom and Grandma joined us on Sunday and we had a really fun celebration. It's a nice way to start the holiday parties with family.

Erik is crazy busy right now with both jobs. He's still working full time nights as a paramedic and picks up a shift or two a week with the hospital. In between that, he's applying for fire jobs. I'm learning quickly that can take up just as much time as a job. Prepping for interviews (there could be three interviews per department, then multiple testing, then physicals, etc. It's a long process), studying skills, leaning about the town, scheduling times, researching locations that are hiring, filling out applications, etc. It's nice there are so many places hiring locally, but that increases the applicants too. So there could be 300 applicants for 3 positions. We enjoy the time we have with him here and are waiting patiently for this to all calm down. Could be several months (or years?).
I'm pregnant. And feeling it. The sweet baby boy is growing quickly but doing well. I can physically feel the changes in my body (hips, etc) and am having a harder time getting around with the boys. Max is probably tired of hearing me say "Okay, Mommy has to rest for a few minutes now". I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes so we've been working with that to keep my blood sugars under control. Some days it's hard and some are easy. Some days I feel like I'm following the diet perfectly and my numbers end up high, and vice versa. I really like my doctor and I feel like this pregnancy is flying by. It's a busy time of year in general so there is less time to focus on the days I have left (unless you are my sister Kristen, she has her own countdown going. Ha!).
We are very lucky this time of year to have great family, our health, employment, and a home as well as all the little "things" that make our days run smoothly. We are very blessed.
