My new shirt!

Okay, I am really tired of answering all the pregnant questions. This is the shirt I'm going to have made. And yes, I'm big enough for it all to fit. Either that or just hand out cards. (Note the ticker at the bottom of the page...)


I'm due in December. The 5th. No, I'm not having twins. Yes, I'm sure. I feel fine, thank you. Yes, I'm getting bigger. Yes, this is our first. No, we don't know what the gender is. I don't care about your experience in labor, I'll ask you when I do. I don't care about your mother's-cousin's-sister's-neighbor's-friend who was smaller than me at this point. The names we chose are our decision and again, I don't care about your opinion of them. Or who you know that was named that too. Yes, I'm hot all the time and yes, sleeping is really difficult. You go glue a 15 lb basketball to your stomach and let me know how comfortable you were during the night. Yes, you should give up your seat for me. And yes, it is better for you to ask me if I'm pregnant rather than have me catch you staring at my mid section (however it is a nice break from my chest). Yes, I'm excited. Yes, I'm scared. No, you cannot be in the delivery room. Yes, I know who the father is. Whether or not I breastfeed is none of your business. That goes for the epidural too. Yes, I can drink coffee. Yes, I feel it kick. No, not right now-the only reason I'm touching my belly right now is because I'm distracting my hands from slapping yours. BACK AWAY FROM THE PREGNANT WOMAN!

Theo's Holiday

In the "wee" hours of the morning during my...um...third...trip around my house to the bathroom I was able to see an old Cosby episode that I remember as one of my favorites. The Cosby show is not my first rerun choice to watch. But, my options are limited at 4am. And, it's a nice reminder at how funny that show really is (was). As kids, we somehow recorded the famous Cosby episode titled "Theo's Holiday" and watched it several times. Well, last night at maybe 4am, it was on.

The episode is the one where Cliff and Claire decide to teach Theo a lesson by turning their house into the "Real World Apartments". Theo is given $2000 dollars to get a job, find a place to live and furnish it, eat, etc. Every one in the family played a role, some multiple roles. And they were all hysterical!

It was by far one of the best episodes ever. Unfortunately, my last bathroom break is around that time and that is when I can finally sleep for about 2-3 hours solid. It's my best sleep of the night...so I made it about 15 minutes into the episode before I was out. The TV was off when I awoke so Erik must have turned it off.

In my research this morning, I found out the original air date was on Erik's 9th birthday. April 3rd, 1986. How cute!

I tried to find pictures of the episode and was not successful. However, I did find this link. I'm not sure if it will work. My ears are clogged AGAIN today so I turned the sound off on my computer. I watched it, but don't know what they say. You don't have to purchase it. Just click play and it will show the first two minutes of the episode.

All in a Day's Work

Hi, my name is Juli, ....::::wait for "Hello, Juli" from the audience::::..... and I read the Reader's Digest. Yes, I know I'm making myself sound old by admitting to reading the RD, but we get it free at work and it's something thing to read at lunch when I don't have a book. Plus, I usually only read the jokes. There was even a guy from Napa and a guy from Oakland who got theirs published this month. Cool, eh? (Which then always reminds me of the Ross vs. Chandler joke...)

Anyway, today I got to the "All in a Day's Work" page and found this little paragrah interesting. I hope Ellen Goodman from the Boston Globe got her $100-$300. Here it is:

"Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it."

I liked it. Think about it, you might too.

My neverending heartburn now has a tastier cure. I've been living off tums for several months. They get really gross after 10 or so a day. Seriously. I've tried everything, and the Tums were the only thing that helped me.

Until....

I found Rolaids soft chews. You might say I'm stupid for making an entire post about Rolaids. But, I did learn how to spell relief (remember that commercial?). They are a little more expensive than the chalky tums, so I have to limit myself. They look like hubba bubba, taste like taffy...and they work!

Best thing ever!

The Halloween Phantom

Erik and I got a visitor last night! It was the Halloween Phantom. We'd never heard of such a thing, so we were a little scared at first. But, what a generous phantom!!! We heard a knock on the door and by the time we calmed Obi down (the big, scary guard dog that she is) there was no one there! But, there was a plate of treats for us to enjoy.

We had cupcakes, tootsie rolls and cookies all decorated for Halloween. Oooohh those cupcakes were GOOD!!!!! The letter attached explained what the Phantom was, but not who it was.

A few minutes later the Kapele boys stopped by. They were in the neighborhood and thought they'd say hello. I showed them what we just received and asked if they had seen anything unusual in our neighborhood. They looked at me like I was crazy. I think they were trying to be nice because they even giggled a little. But, they didn't know anything about it.

We're still stumped. If you see the Halloween Phantom, please tell him we said thank you! We enjoyed the nice surprise and the yummy treats!

West Street Water Torture

Let me start off by saying I love it when it rains. I'm not a fan of driving in it, but I do enjoy being inside when it is cloudy and wet outside. I love the smell of rain, I love that it brings snow, I love cold weather. So, I should have enjoyed the pouring rain last night, right? Wrong!!!

It wasn't raining when I went to bed but, I woke up to it several times during the night. My very kind landlord installed a window air conditioner in our bedroom this summer. I LOVE IT! Especially since I still use it sometimes. My pregnant body temperature is always high and I never use blankets at night. BUT, when the rain falls on a metal box right outside your window...that means no sleep for pregnant Juli.

I think I was up every 20 minutes to what sounded like pots and pans banging together. At one point I almost went outside myself to put a thick blanket on top of the AC box, just to soften the blow. It was that or my foot was going to knock it out of the window.

Then, I wake up to a bright sunny day...gag.

Air Show 2007

To finish off a busy weekend we spent Sunday in San Francisco. We met our friends, Jenn and Troy, in Vallejo and rode the ferry across the bay. When we got there, we met up with Troy's brother in law, Matt, and enjoyed the show from a grassy hill. We ate, drank, laughed and enjoyed watching the interesting people of the bay area. The air show was amazing. It was the first air show I have seen. It was loud, yet peaceful at the same time.

Erik and Troy were both in the Navy so we got to learn about the types of planes we saw. We only heard a few Navy stories (sometimes those are better left quiet :)). It was probably 75 degrees in the city, which is abnormal, so it brought many people out.

The video below does not give it justice, but it's does give you an idea of the tricks we saw. Lot's of flips, turns, jets flying upside down, criss crosses, two jets made a heart trail, lots of patterns and amazing sequence. I was really impressed to see 4,5, and 6 jets flying so close together spinning around.

After long day in the sun and walking around the pier's (I guessed it was over 6 miles...but my pregnant measurements are a little off), we were exhausted and ready to go home. We grabbed a bite and hit the...water...a much quieter float home. We were home by 9pm and fast asleep by 9:30.

The Pumpkin Patch

We took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday in Dixon. It was a pretty cool place. It had a huge corn maze, a grass maze, a hay tower, lots and lots of pumpkins to choose from and we even went on a hay ride. We went with The Kapele's and The Mills (Payten's Mills). It was really fun and all the kids had fun. Even ours...it fit right in!

Grandma's Favorite Grandogger

So, I thought I'd add a few pictures of our dog, Obi Wonita. She is a German Sheppard/Australian Cattle Dog mix. We rescued her from the Oakland SPCA (great place) about 1.5 yrs ago. The one on the left is us on a fishing boat at Lake Alpine. It's my 30th birthday and about two minutes after that I caught Erik's dinner, a beautiful rainbow trout (note the fishing pole behind me, and me really paying attention to it). Below is Obi playing fetch on the shore of the lake. And the bottom is Obi, right before she jumped out of the boat in the middle of the dang lake. I guess she wanted to do some fishing of her own? She's a great camping dog. And the title is true, my Mom just loves her! So true that she keeps a piture of her on her night stand, next to her bed. :)

The season is over......and we did horribly. Oh well, can't win 'em all! Better luck next year guys!
